Amazing job by the Crow but all things has come to an end. We here at VCFrontline.com thank you for the years that has gone by and wish you the best in the future.
This could be a good thing though with a team that just missed the playoffs for the first time since 99-00. It will be easier to rebuild a team with a new coach that brings a new approach.
Quote from the Inside Edge newsletter: "Vancouver, B.C. – The Vancouver Canucks announced today that Marc Crawford has been relieved of his duties as the team’s head coach. The Canucks finished the 2005-06 season with a record of 42-32-8 and missed the playoffs for the first time since the 1999-00 season.
“The decision to relieve Marc of his duties was a very difficult one for me to make,” said Dave Nonis, Vancouver Canucks Senior Vice President & General Manager. “Our club has enjoyed a lot of growth and success under Marc and his staff. I feel very privileged to have worked with Marc over the last seven years and believe strongly that our organization took tremendous strides under his leadership behind the bench.
This decision is about the future. Our club once again needs to become one of the hardest working teams in the League. We need to ensure that our attention to detail is second to none in the NHL.”
Crawford leaves the organization as the all-time leader in wins with 246. Since taking over behind the Canucks bench in January of 1999, Crawford has compiled a record of 246-197-70-24 in 529 games. His 411 career coaching wins place him 16th on the all-time list."
