Vancouver, B.C. - Vancouver Canucks Senior Vice-President and General Manager Dave Nonis announced today that defenceman Keith Carney and Juha Alen have been acquired from the Anaheim Mighty Ducks in exchange for Brett Skinner and a 2nd round draft pick in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

Carney, 36, has played 61 games with the Mighty Ducks this season recording 18 points (2-16-18) and 48 penalty minutes. Over his 14-year NHL career, Carney has played 859 games and recorded 198 points (40-158-198) and 790 penalty minutes. In 80 career playoff games, including seven games in the 2003 Stanley Cup Finals, Carney has 20 points (2-18-20) and 63 penalty minutes.

The 6-foot-1, 212 pound Providence, Rhode Island native was originally drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the fourth round, 76th overall in the 1988 NHL Entry Draft. Carney has played for four NHL teams including Buffalo, Chicago, Phoenix and Anaheim.
