Vancouver, B.C. - Vancouver Canucks Senior Vice-President and General Manager Dave Nonis announced today that goaltender Dan Cloutier has signed a multi-year contract. In keeping with club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"Dan has grown as a person and a player in Vancouver and is now at an age when NHL goaltenders traditionally reach the prime of their careers," said Dave Nonis. "Hes had some wonderful seasons for us and has become a big part of this community. We look forward for another excellent year from Dan."

Cloutier, 29, played in 60 games with Vancouver during the 2003-2004 season, equalling a career high season with 33 wins, 21 losses, six ties, five shutouts and a career best 2.27 goals-against average. In tallying 33 victories, Cloutier became the first goaltender in Canucks history to have posted three consecutive 30 win seasons. In fact, no other goalie in team history has won 30 or more games in two straight seasons.

In 195 career regular season games with Vancouver, Cloutier has posted a 101-65-23 record with 14 shutouts and a 2.38 goals-against average. During 2004-05, Cloutier played for Klagenfurter AC of Austria, posting a 7-0-5 record and a goals against average of 1.94 in the regular season.

The 6-foot-1, 195 pound native of Mont-Laurier, Quebec, was acquired by Vancouver on February 7th, 2001 from Tampa Bay in exchange for Adrian Aucoin and a second round draft pick. In 305 career regular season games, Cloutier has posted a record of 123 wins, 121 losses and 33 ties, with 15 shutouts and a 2.64 GAA. Cloutier has also played in 25 NHL playoff games over the last four seasons with Vancouver, posting a record of 10 wins, 13 losses and a 3.31 GAA. Cloutier was originally drafted by the NY Rangers, 26th overall, in the 1994 Entry Draft.
