Vancouver, B.C. – Vancouver Canucks Senior Vice-President and General Manager Dave Nonis announced today that defenceman Lukas Krajicek has been signed to a contract. In keeping with club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Krajicek, 23, is a former first round pick and played 67 games with Florida in the 2005-06 season, recording 16 points (2-14-16) and 50 penalty minutes. In three seasons with the Panthers, Krajicek played a total of 90 games, tallying 23 points (3-20-23) and 62 penalty minutes.
Krajicek was acquired by the Vancouver Canucks alongside Roberto Luongo and a sixth round draft pick in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft (Juraj Simek) from Florida in exchange for Bryan Allen, Alex Auld and Todd Bertuzzi on June 23, 2006.
The 6’2”, 205 lbs, native of Prostejov, Czech Republic was Florida’s 24th selection overall in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. Krajicek recently represented the Czech Republic in the 2006 World Championships, winning silver.
