Vancouver, B.C. – The Vancouver Canucks released their 2006-07 television schedule today, with 80 regular season games to be broadcast during the upcoming season.

The regular season schedule begins Thursday, October 5th, with CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada broadcast of the Canucks season opener at the Detroit Red Wings.

This year’s regular season TV schedule once again includes 45 broadcasts on Rogers Sportsnet Pacific, with 13 games on CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada, 17 on Canucks TV and five games on TSN.
Jim Hughson and John Garrett will once again be calling games on Rogers Sportsnet Pacific.

The Canucks will be seen on national TV a total of 18 times including 13 on CBC and five on TSN. Canuck fans will have time to get home to see the vast majority of games with 50 of the 80 televised games beginning at 7:00 p.m. or later.

Vancouver’s broadcast schedule includes a number of marquee match-ups including the 2005-06 NHL Rookie of the Year Alexandre Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals visit to General Motors Place on October 27th, the Phoenix Coyotes visit to Vancouver on December 12th, the Florida Panthers visit to Vancouver on January 7th, in addition to the Canucks trip to Eastern Canada to take on the Maple Leafs (Jan. 13th), Canadiens (Jan. 16th) and Senators (Jan. 18th).

In addition to the 63 games on “conventional” TV, the Canucks are once again pleased to offer fans an expanded Canucks Pay-Per-View schedule.

Once again 17 regular season games will be broadcast on Canucks Pay-Per-View. The nature of the Canucks TV format allows for in-depth broadcasts to be produced around the game. Canucks fans will continue to enjoy a broadcast with no commercial timeouts, pre and post-game shows and complete game day coverage.
The TEAM 1040’s John Shorthouse and Tom Larscheid will once again call all of the games.

Please note that the NHL has rescheduled the Canucks at Detroit Red Wings game in November to Wednesday the 22nd (4:30 PST, Canucks Pay-Per-View). The game was originally scheduled for Tuesday, November 21st.
